Five Must-Have Face Serums for Acne-Prone Skin | Your Autumn & Winter Skincare Guide

Dumelang Di Chomi,

As the temperature drops and the air becomes drier, our skincare routines need adjustments to face the harsh effects of autumn and winter weather. Now if you are like me and struggle with acne prone skin, maintaining a healthy skin barrier becomes important during these seasons.

Thank goodness there are specialized face serums designed to target acne while protecting and nourishing your skin. In this blog, we'll explore the top face serums better suited for acne-prone skin, ensuring your complexion stays radiant and clear throughout the colder seasons.

1. Garnier | Pure Active AHA+BHA Charcoal Serum

The AHA stands for Alpha Hydroxy Acid and BHA stands for Beta Hydroxy Acid, this combination offers a plethora of skin benefits. These benefits include; exfoliation, unclogging of pores, improving skin texture, prevention of acne and hydration to name a few.

PS: as much as the AHA+BHA Charcoal Serum has many benefits, you need to listen to your skin as you don't want to over exfoliate your skin.

Personally I have used the Garnier AHA+BHA Charcoal Serum and the results were amazing. It assisted my skin with dark marks, hydration and blemishes. I know that whole "charcoal" name can through a person off but trust me this serum doesn't leave any black residue.

2. Skin Republic | Glycolic Acid 10% Serum

Another skin community fave, is the Glycolic Acid, which I can understand as the benefits sounds to be amazing. If your skin is congested, Glycolic Acid is your girl as it helps to exfoliate the skin surface, unclogs pores and promotes cell turnover.

PS: You don't want to over exfoliate your skin during winter as the air tends to be dryer and colder.

I am yet to try the Skin Republic Glycolic Acid 10% Serum, but from what I am hearing and reading, is that I am missing out.

3. The Ordinary | Salicylic Acid 2% Solution

Salicylic Acid is a must, especially if you struggle with Acne Prone Skin, the more popular term is Blemish-Prone Skin. The Salicylic Acid is a water based serum, won't leave your skin feeling oily and extremely hydrating on the skin while targeting clogged pores, removal of dead skin cells and reduces congestion

PS: Ever since introducing Salicylic Acid into my skincare routine, my skin has improved. I have not used the serum yet, but I have been loving the Salicylic Acid Toner from Fundamentals which is a water exfoliator. (don't say I didn't plug you).

4. Origins | GinZing Into the Glow Brightening Serum

Ever since discovering Vitamin C serum, I have not looked back. The reason why it is better to use Vitamin C during the colder weather is because Vitamin C assist with dark marks and to hydrate the skin but you need to wear your sunscreen and we all know how brutal summer sun can be on the skin.

PS: Love the Origins GinZing Into the Glow Brightening Serum, need to stock up since winter is practically here.

You know the saying of "saving the best for last" well this is exactly what it is, saving the best serum for last. Are you really a skin girlie if you don't know about Hyaluronic Acid Serum? This serum is extremely hydrating, plumps the skin, improves firmness and has some amazing anti-aging effects. Now you know why this is a MUST HAVE SERUM during winter.
PS: She is in my winter skincare routine already and I love this Hyaluronic Acid + Peptides serum. Leaves my skin feeling plumped and I know they say black don't crack but I also have to do my part.

As temperatures drop and humidity levels plummet, maintaining clear, healthy skin becomes a greater challenge, especially for those with acne-prone skin. However, with the right face serums formulated specifically for acne and suitable for autumn and winter conditions, you can fortify your skin barrier while addressing blemishes effectively. Incorporate these must-have serums into your seasonal skincare routine to ensure a radiant complexion all year round, regardless of the weather outside.
